EFT Meridian Tapping Clicks that Amygdala Forward – Part II
Thrive under Pressure and Manage Your Fight-and-Flight Response

With the amygdala clicked forward, the adrenaline that has been released, stops flowing into the blood, and the blood again makes it’s evolutionary journey to the frontal brain again, to the immune system, the digestive system and the balance of a whole mind-body system is back in the running. We feel good and we are back in the driver’s seat of our magnificent body-mind complex, accessing the strength of cognitive reasoning and flowing, yes, flowing with deliberate conscious management. We are back to thriving centered in the heart!

Do this often enough, creates new patterns that break the habit of being yourself. Joe Dispensa puts it this way:

Joe Dispensa puts it this way:

“If you want to create a new self, you first have to stop being the old self. In the process of creation, the first function of the frontal lobe is to become self-aware. The purpose of becoming self-aware is so that you no longer allow any thought, action, or emotion you don’t want to experience to pass by your awareness.”

In time, your ability to recognize, inhibit and diffuse the firing and wiring of those old neural networks of the old mindset of the personality will be pruned away. As you prune your forest of unwanted decaying trees which represent the aspects of pain, anxiety, rage, anger, etc., we are naturally impulsed and inspired to take new actions which create new habits that allow for new healthy trees to grow. Life looks different, joy triggers joy chemicals, self-confidence triggers confidence and courage chemicals, creative notions start dancing and our stress management abilities take on a whole new capacity. DHEA, happy hormone is now the offering from your adrenals. Your ability to transform stress takes on a whole new capacity. Yes to yes! When we take note of our stress and simply breathe in deeply, we are back to clicking that amygdala forward. You can feel it and the problems seem to be less huge as solutions ignite our frontal lobes and that missing piece just floats into place.

We realize that things were never as bad as we thought them to be, we just had to get out of the way allowing calm, comfort and ease to be the space we are in.

Answers then reveal themselves.

You must be doing something that is right to get to this place.

Your new hardware created by uplifting and forward moving beliefs of worthiness, abundance, new vitality and robust health now creates congruency to new goals and insights with new synaptic connections and these new communities of neurons can now fire and wire together as a new mind connected to heart resonance for a system of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual wholeness. You end up quite simply “losing your mind” with a new strength, new will, new radiance, new desires and habits that cross the threshold of limited capacities.

For the moment let’s hear and receive what brain scientist, Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor in her Ted Talk ”Stroke of Insight” shares about the body’s magnificent capacity to handle our emotions and her personal experience through the loss of her left brain hemisphere and regeneration, a powerful story of recovery and awareness that graced the world with new knowledge on the brain’s right and left hemispheres.

It takes “less than 90 seconds” for an emotion to get triggered, surge chemically through the blood stream, then get flushed out.

“I am the life-force power of the universe. I am the life-force power of the 50 trillion beautiful molecular geniuses that make up my form, at one with all that is.”

Jill Bolte Taylor

If you sit with that emotional hurt and feel it without judgment of another or judgment of yourself, for just 90 seconds, the emotion is neutralized. The cells actually move the created chemicals up through the energy centers, up and out of your body.
Just communicate with your cells what you are going to do. “Cells, I am going to sit and feel my hurt. I am informed that you will take these unwanted chemicals I have created up and out of the body. Thank you.” Now sit and allow the releasing to begin.

What an empowering revelation!

Many of us in energy psychology have a knowing of this after years of experiencing the truth of this for ourselves and yet, through our individual conditioning we have built up layers of unconscious emotional stresses that are way past the time-line of 90 seconds. 90 seconds denied, leads to another 90 seconds denied until the chemistry leads into days, months and years of accumulative ‘stuffed down’ emotions that express through ulcers, heart and respiratory issues, PTSD, cancer, fibromyalgia, chronic migraine headaches, painful joints, weight gain or loss and the onslaught of other diseases which have become an accepted normal way of living.

In the recent talk with Adoley and Jo Dunning on the Wellness Revolution, many people commented that they had tried everything to make changes in their life for positive change and were still having difficulties. What were they doing wrong?
Jo Dunning’s reply was the clearer question might be “What are they doing right?”

Deal With the Hurt First!

The cool, good news is you don’t need to know how to do tapping in order to utilize the body’s ability to flush out the emotional charge that Jo Bolte Taylor speaks about. You just have to be willing to take 5 minutes out of your day to sit and to get in touch with your feelings and preferably soon after the emotions have erupted.

Then if you feel impulsed to tap on issues that might come up, follow your intuition. Let that intuition come from your heart-mind connection and not from the amygdala clicking your fear backward into fight-and-flight response because intuition coming from the survival part of the brain will have a lower resonance of awareness. It will be rooted in fear and survival and cannot be congruent to the creating of a new you and the freedom you are looking for from the pain, stress and anxiety of living in today’s world. The goal is to consciously manage your life and thrive under all conditions using tools that are effective in creating the outcome you would like. Tools that have proven to work.

Jo Dunning, a world leader in spirituality, shares that anger has it’s root in some kind of hurt. It could be a disappointment, a loss, a trauma of some kind, a rejection by someone, harsh words, expectations not being met, the list goes on in the multi ways we can feel hurt and threatened. We know the chakras are set up to transmute energy, moving up in an undulating movement much like the DNA helix. The hurt is generally felt in the lower three chakras that has to do with survival issues, individuation and relationships.

We know in energy psychology that lower based emotions are usually at the root of energy blocks in the body which are causing toxicity in the form of pain, lack of mobility and ease. Sometimes these physical issues can be environmentally created from chemicals in the atmosphere, carpeting, paint supplies, building supplies, chemicals used in farming, etc.

Jo Dunning continues to say, If you can deal with the hurt first, then there is no need for the anger to arise. However, if for whatever reason, we sidestep this first part through denial, not taking time to face it, blame, shame, guilt, regret, mistrust, doubt or whatever reason we use to suppress it, then anger gets ushered in. Even if we can’t let another person know how we feel, then we can do it for ourselves. If we will sit for a few minutes, the emotion will go right through us and out as compassion and love.”

Just sit with your feelings of hurt for a few moments. find a quiet place to do this, even if it is the bathroom. No need to analyze the hurt, but simply to feel it as it is, so that the body can do its work. If you have the choice to sit in a park or amongst the trees, that can be very helpful.

Change the Mind Chatter to a Feeling Focus

This is a tool I also learned from Jo Dunning about eight years ago and have found it to be immediate and effective for shifting the mind chatter to conscious feeling awareness.

The key in this tool is to Feel Your Body

Stay grounded and centered in your body especially if you are driving. You may have to stop driving for a few minutes to focus. The idea is not to go into an altered state if you are driving. Be sure to take responsibility for your own life and proceed. Once you make this a conscious habit, it is easy to do and it will bring you back to non-thinking. The advantage of this feeling awareness is to shift from the activity of monkey-mind talk which usually takes place in the top of the brain area of your head, to your feeling nature.

I do this when I am walking or in someone’s car and find myself constantly thinking about something and have also used it when I find I cannot sleep because I have some issue consuming my attention. You may not fall asleep but you will shift the energy from the backward motion to the forward click of awareness and you will feel much more relaxed and calm.

Here we go…

  • When you observe yourself mind-chatting, simply stop and connect to your heart, take three long slow breaths and become aware of your breath moving through your body.
  • Feel your state of being calm, relaxed and comfortable.
  • Choose one part of your body such as your arm. If you are resting it on the arm of a
chair, begin to focus and feel your arm against the arm of the chair. Then bring your awareness to your buttocks and feel them against the chair. Continue to bring your attention to other parts of your body. Feel the air on your face, the fluid in your eyes, or your feet on the ground. You even bring your attention to the connection of your fingers to your hand and the sensation of that connection.
  • Explore and Enjoy!

It is that easy to do and the mind chatting will have shifted from talking to feeling. This conscious awareness activity will help you become more sensitized to your feeling nature and will help to initiate a new way of being in life, therefore a new you. New neural
networks will begin to form and the wiring and firing will begin a whole new dance in the hardware of your brain.

Move into a state of Wonder and Appreciation

Wonder and appreciation can shift multitudes of doubt and negative thinking and all that is needed to begin this process is to take time for quietude. You can even do this quiet reflection while having your coffee, sitting in the park, spending time alone to simply look at the awesomeness of life no matter what anyone else is doing. Just allowing your gaze to expand to witness life just as it is moving before you wherever you are sitting or walking initiates creative change. This time is very much like a meditation, no mental talk is necessary, simply observing and feeling the gratitude of being alive keeps your awareness in heart coherence and aligned to the bigger vision of life.

Make a daily list of the things that cause you to appreciate life and watch your life shift. Do this until wonder and appreciate initiate new questions and new insights and become a state of being.

Just recently I had an experience of stress collide into my present calm moment as my fingers clicked into a website holding a design contract for me. Immediately my gaze confronted with an unexpected text. It was the eleventh hour of completion of some design work with a graphic designer, or so I thought. In the last message to her before this window showing ‘Complete’ was capturing my attention, I had listed the modifications I still wanted. Up to this point, some of my requests had quite literally been ignored. So I tapped on my annoyance at the time and once the emotion had collapsed to a 0 and I had honored my feelings by verbally acknowledging them, I wrote my requests systematically wishing not to pick or poke at her designs, after all, she could be overworked, for all I knew. I started this message with complimenting the parts of the design I did like and then I worked into listing the details of what I wanted changed. This was the third modification to the original design request, certainly not uncommon in graphic design work, but after clicking on the ‘submit’ button, I never heard back from the designer for over three more days and went on the site to see if there was an answer there.

When I saw my contract labeled “Complete” written on my order I could feel my reaction strongly flood my solar plexus and most definitely fear and threat triggered adrenaline from my adrenals.

Frankly I was shocked at the degree of my contraction with an intensity of about an 8 out of a 10. When I sat with this feeling of anxiousness and fear, my awareness took me to the thoughts………She can’t do that, just abort this order which I had already paid for! How can she do this without communicating? My reaction had ignited the familiar syndrome of fight-and-flight and I was ready for a fight, feeling these biochemicals saturate my sense of self-worth in the physical area below my chest.

My thoughts continued….Am I going to have to take the half finished design and pay yet another person to complete this order? (flight) Part of me thought, I can’t be bothered to deal with this.

Fortunately I have learned to pause, and breathe deeply into the heart. I tapped on my emotions of fear of having been cut off, of perhaps paying another designer to finish the job and my judgment on myself for choosing this designer. The intensity neutralized quickly after one round..which generated a good laugh and chuckle and then I began typing a letter to the company explaining my situation with calm and confidence. I copied and pasted my last modification request on the query and submitted it to the contact representatives and then happily went on my way to do other work.

Within two hours, the company had emailed me to say I had a reply from the designer. She had comments…have 90% design done. Who knows why my order said complete when it wasn’t, maybe she was a young designer and didn’t understand the protocol of the company. What I do know is that when we stop, pause and breathe and choose a tool that works, in this case EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique, we intercept those messenger molecules that send chemicals for stress and anxiety,(amygdala clicked back ward into fight-and-flight response) and we create the chemicals for peace, love and joy, (amygdala clicked forward) and that calm and comfort are the resulting biological impressions of the change and we are working whole system forward with the solutions needed for creative insights.

From the website ‘ Healing Cancer’ The Lastest Research on Mind-Body Medicine The Research of Candace Pert, PhD’

“Dr. Pert’s research provides scientific evidence that a biochemical basis for awareness and consciousness exists, that the mind and body are indeed one and that our emotions and feelings are the bridge that links the two. She explains, “The chemicals that are running our body and our brain are the same chemicals that are involved in emotion. And that says to me that we’d better pay more attention to emotions with respect to health.”

If you were hooked up to brain-imaging devices such as a PET scanner or had the opportunity to watch the screen while experiencing anxiety, you would see the precise locations of your aroused emotions through a screen that lights up like the fourth of July fireworks.

When we feel threatened and become anxious, we trigger the inherent fight-or-flight or stress response as it is commonly known and our body becomes engaged in a defense mechanism biologically programmed to protect us since birth. The body reacts to protect us as if we are being confronted with a snarling wolf coming toward us, or a bear crossing our path. We begin to experience this same ancient survival syndrome as the brainreceives these emotional reaction messages of fear even when there is no threat to our safety.
